HI!  Sorry I’ve been so MIA. Yet again, hand over that worst-blogger-award. I deserve it.
Let’s get down to business. 
Holistic, all natural, ancient-been-around-for-hundreds-of-years health beneficial habits (is that even a correct sentence? probably not).

But really, take note: a few tweaks and additions into your morning routine will make you feel like a whole new person and probably change how you make healthy choices the rest of the day…
You know how you crawl out out bed to your alarm clock, dreading having to get moving for the day? And you slowly and grumpily mope around trying to get your shit together and out the door in a 15 minute time frame? And you wonder – “how the heck is there such a thing as a morning person?!”
That’s ME! I’m a morning person.   I go to bed eager and ready to wake up and get my morning routine on and going!  The alarm clock goes off, and up I pop – sometimes there’s a pause then I’m up. but once I’m up I’M READY TO GO!!!!
Yeah, I’m that obnoxiously active and happy person YOU dread to be around when your eyes are still halfway shut chugging down your coffee that you forgot to add creamer to because you’re sleep walking.
So, the second I get out of bed – I head straight to the kitchen where I have a full glass of pre-poured water waiting for me.  Why do I leave water out over night? Because waking up and drinking room temperature water is MUCH better for your system than cold water.

A cup of water? Cool Taylor. Snoooze….

Nope!

I reach in the fridge, pull out my tub of Bee Pollen, Apple Cider Vinegar, chlorophyll organic lemon juice and extra virgin coconut oil.
So what now? Making some weird, bitter muffin?
Here we go:
I pour 2 tbs of the vinegar into the glass of water, along with a big dash of the organic lemon juice and a shot of chlorophyll.  And chug the whole glass (around 6-8 ounces). 

THEN I scoop a big spoon full (around 1 tbs maybe?) of coconut oil and then sprinkle 1tsp of the bee pollen over that spoon full and eat!  It’s actually really delicious.

So I’m all done with my routine?
 
No, we’re only beginning!

So I need to wait 20 minutes for the apple cider mixture and coconut oil sludge to settle in my stomach before I eat.

Here’s where oil-pulling comes in!  (fyi: i’ve been doing this for about a year, so no, I didn’t jump on the bandwagon with the rest of the world recently-i have my super fab holistic sister-in-law to thank for the inspiration)

But before: I take a wash cloth, run it under scolding hot water, ring it out, lay it on my face for about 20 seconds.   Grab a big scoop of unfiltered honey out of the jar and smear it all over my face. 

NOW it’s oil pulling time: I scoop about 1tbs of extra virgin coconut oil (unfilteredunrefined- SO important it’s both) and pop it in my mouth.  Yes, I literally have a jar of coconut oil in every single room of our apartment, including the bathroom counter top.

While I’m swishing, I prepare my waffle mix, make my coffee, stick my frozen blueberries in the microwave ready to push start when time.  Get in some stretching, set my intentions for the day, etc.

I literally…have my entire morning down to a T. like you don’t want to get in my way or throw me off.

BREAKFAST TIME and the News for 45 minutes.  Yup. I sit in front of the t.v. for 45 minutes and watch the news, every morning.  If it’s less than 45 minutes I feel rushed…  #firstworldproblems


OK so WHY each of these?! What the heck are the benefits?! Or am I just weird and enjoy eating bee pollen?

——>  SO: this post after explaining all of the above and the health benefits of each, was like pagessss long.  So I’m going to break it into a few different posts so you don’t LITERALLY fall asleep reading it!



Today’s post will be the apple cider vinegar, chlorophyll & lemon drink!

Let’s start with why I take a shot of Apple Cider Vinegar

There’s so many super expensive “detox” drinks they say to drink up that will make you feel better inside and out.  But guess what? This one is only like $5!

Eat your heart out, La Mer.

If the 100% all natural/un-pasteurized/unfiltered version ( not the preservative-filled shit ) isn’t currently chillin’ like a villain in your fridge then go run to the nearest store ASAP.

Why?

Let me throw some benefits ‘atcha:
  • Rich in potassium, a mineral that is often times lacking in adult diets. This mineral is key for growth, building muscles, transmission of nerve impulses, heart activity etc. It also helps to prevent brittle teeth, hair loss and runny noses.
  • Rich in acetic acid. This acid is said to slow the digestion of starch which can help to lower the rise in glucose that commonly occurs after meals.

THE BENEFITS!
  • Aids Digestion. Lemon juice flushes out unwanted materials and toxins from the body. It’s atomic composition is similar to saliva and the hydrochloric acid of digestive juices. It encourages the liver to produce bile which is an acid that is required for digestion. Lemons are also high in minerals and vitamins and help loosen ama, or toxins, in the digestive tract. The digestive qualities of lemon juice help to relieve symptoms of indigestion, such as heartburn, belching and bloating. The American Cancer Society actually recommends offering warm lemon water to cancer sufferers to help stimulate bowel movements.

Therefore toxins are released at a faster rate which helps keep your urinary tract healthy. I personally find myself making better choices throughout the day, if I start my day off right, by making a health conscious choice to drink warm lemon water & my shot of ACV first thing every morning.

Why?!

§           Chlorophyll is the best aid in gastrointestinal problems.
Refined, low fiber and and animal fats contribute to major diseases start in the colon. Gastrointestinal problems can be best treated by improving the digestion and assimilation.
