do this

it must be FRIDAY!

because i’ve got a new habit for YOU, yes you, to embrace starting this weekend.

i do these friday, that way you have the WHOLE weekend to either go get the items to make the habit happen, or put off the new habit (while keeping it in the back of your mind the whole weekend that you INTEND to begin in) until Monday to start your week off strong with it.

because i can promise you, every single habit i share with you i personally do and has changed my life in some way or another for the better and i feel obligated to share a life-changing habit with YOU so your life can bet better.

i can never say it enough, habits that may seem small and irrelevant, are usually the ones that are the catalyst for big changes over time.

so with that begin said, here is what i want YOU to do this weekend.

go get a Himalayan Salt Lamp.

huh? i want you to go purchase something? and something so  random?

yes. because it’s step 1 to another habit i’ll be introducing next friday. but until then, i want you to take this week either order one or go get one, and set it up on your night stand.  and flip that switch to start enjoying the many benefits of having a Himalayan Salt Lamp in your life!

so what are the benefits of this odd looking lamp? it’s an orange rock. literally. with a light bulb inside…

cool taylor. reaaaaaaal cool.

no really, it’s awesome.

these rocks made of salt, literally that’s all it is, are natural negative ion generators. at any given time, there are both positive and negative ions in the air.  a quick science flashback for ya from freshman science class:

“an ion is an atom or molecule in which the total number of electrons is not equal to the total number of protons, giving the atom a net positive or negative electrical charge”.

so negative ions occur more often in nature and are often made from things like lightning, waterfalls and waves created by the ocean.  this is one fo the reasons people often say they feel refreshed after a storm or at the beach! get it?!

so the positive ions are often created by electronic devices like this computer or phone you’re reading from, TVs, microwaves, even vacuum cleaners – all which produce problems like allergies, stress and sleep trouble.  you know when you’re laying in bed scrolling through your phone because you “can’t fall asleep”….. we all do it, you know what i’m talking about.  so those negative ions can actually neutralize the positive ions (because they bond together, like a big hug!) and help cleanse the air! like magic!!!

the combination of salt and a light source (that tiny little bulb int here) are what cause the negative ions.  the salt is hygroscopic, meaning that it attracts water to its surface and this water then evaporates quickly due to the small amount of heat from the light source.  just a forewarning because it will sometimes look like it’s “sweating” and appear damp in a humid room.  the negative ions are generated during this evaporation process!  since things like airborne mold, bacteria, and allergens often carry a positive charge, they can be neutralized by negative ions!  are you starting to get the grasp of this lit up stone now?

WebMD’s benefits of negative ions that are put off in the air:

“Generally speaking, negative ions increase the flow of oxygen to the brain; resulting in higher alertness, decreased drowsiness, and more mental energy,” says Pierce J. Howard, PhD

“They also may protect against germs in the air, resulting in decreased irritation due to inhaling various particles that make you sneeze, cough, or have a throat irritation.”

And for a whopping one in three of us who are sensitive to their effects, negative ions can make us feel like we are walking on air. You are one of them if you feel instantly refreshed the moment you open a window and breathe in fresh, humid air.”

i swear by this golden glow’s healing ability – it helps keep my allergies at bay,  keeps my bedroom air cleaner and reduces any bacteria in the air from dog dander from Trooper-man!

when you plug and turn your lamp on, it immediately puts off those negative ions and begins to kill the bacteria, purifies your air, reduces radiation (ironically my phone sits beside mine on my bedside table, don’t judge) and truly begins to sooth your mind body and soul.  close your eyes and envision the feeling you get from standing on the beach letting those waves crash on you, or being near a waterfall.   if that doesn’t get you to relax, i don’t know what will!

i, personally, have a couple of salt lamps around our apartment.  1 ON my desk to help neutralize radiation from this here computer, 1 by my bed and 1 that i sit out on my balcony for when i read at night (come on warmer nights so i can get back to this!).

so if you want cleaner air, better energy and an overall feeling of creating a better YOU, go get one this weekend, find a home for it near a place you spend a lot of time (ie desk and bed) and begin reaping the benefits immediately!!

i get mine right off amazon (amazon addict right here!) & this is the exact one i own multiple sizes of.

they come in all sortsa “styles”! my next one for the balcony will be this little pile ‘o rocks!

do you already use a himalayan salt rock? do you COOK with it?! because consuming this type of salt is just as beneficial and i LOVE the taste of it.

no i don’t chip away or lick my salt lamp…. weirdo.

ok there you go! no go getcha self a glowing rock and enjoy this new “habit” to embrace in your daily life.

because investing in YOUR health is crucial. you’re stuck in that thing and all the stuff you put in it and around it, for the rest of your life!
